Looking After Your Diamonds
Caring for your diamond jewellery is important to us. After all, we want you to enjoy its beauty for as long as possible. So, as part of our dedication to customer satisfaction, we've put together some guidelines to help you keep your jewellery as beautiful as possible for as long as possible.

When diamonds get damaged or dirty
Diamonds are special in many ways, but one of their best-known characteristics is their hardness. In fact, they are the hardest known natural substance on earth (10 on Mohs scale). Because of this, diamonds can only be cut or polished by another diamond and are resistant to heat and pressure. But they are not indestructible – an extremely hard blow to a diamond, on a cleavage line within the crystal, can cause it to be chipped.
But don’t worry, this is a rare occurrence – diamonds are acknowledged as being timeless for a reason. In fact, once a diamond is cleaved from its original crystal and then cut, the internal and external qualities and characteristics cannot change, except when subjected to very high temperatures. If this happens, any minute inclusions in the diamond can expand and a piece of diamond can blow off.
Like anything else, a diamond’s surface can also become dirty, especially if you wear it when you’re doing housework or swimming, for example. But again, this is nothing to worry about – your diamond can be cleaned and the qualities and characteristics won’t be affected. |

Keeping your diamond jewellery sparkling Cleaning your diamonds is simple. The best way to do it is by hand, using washing-up liquid and a soft brush to loosen any dirt. Once rinsed and dried, the diamond’s sparkle will soon re-emerge. Once a year, it’s worthwhile getting diamonds cleaned professionally – the security of the setting can be checked at the same time.
The setting of your jewellery can be cleaned in the same way – using a soft brush and washing up liquid. To get it really shining, a professional clean is recommended, using specialist cleaning products that will ensure a beautiful, ‘good as new’ finish.
To keep your diamond jewellery looking stunning, each piece needs to be stored separately. If two pieces are kept in the same place then they might scratch each other – after all, the only thing that can scratch a diamond is another diamond! Place each item in a soft cloth pouch when not being worn.
